Try Your Hand at Keto Powdered Sugar Donuts

When we launched our new Powdered Monk Fruit Sweetener, we knew powdered sugar donuts were in our near future.

Who can resist a pillowy soft cake donut, dusted in a sweet coating of confectioners sugar? Talk about breakfast dreams come true, especially when you find out they are sugar free, grain free, and actually pretty darn good for you.

We start by baking up our Vanilla Bean Cake Mix, which happens to make the perfect cake donuts, just by slightly tweaking the ingredients.

Once those are ready, it's as simple as rolling them in ZenSweet Powdered Monk Fruit Sweetener to make a plate of breakfast indulgence!

How to make

Step 1

Prepare a donut pan (this recipe makes 12 donuts) by greasing it well with coconut oil, and use 1-2 tablespoons of the Vanilla Bean Cake Mix to coat the oil. Set prepared pan aside.

Step 2

In a bowl, add the ZenSweet Vanilla Bean Cake Mix, 3 eggs, 1/3 cup of melted coconut oil, and 2 tablespoons of water. Mix into a smooth cake batter.

Step 3

Fill the donut cavities about 1/2 full with the batter.

Step 4

Bake the donuts for 10 minutes, and then allow to fully cool before attempting to take the donuts from the pan.

Step 5

Add ZenSweet Powdered Monk Fruit Sweetener to a bowl, and dip the top of each donut into the sweetener, until fully coated.

Tips and Tricks for the Best Donuts

The donut pan cavities only need to be filled about halfway with the cake batter. It will rise while baking. If you overfill, the donuts will not have holes in the centers! Divide between 12 donuts if you're using a standard sized pan. We do not recommend using a mini-donut pan for this recipe. The gluten free/sugar free cake batter is delicate and is difficult to remove from a mini donut pan.

**Don't have a donut pan? **It's okay! Make these more like donut "muffins" or donut holes by baking the batter in a muffin tin. The result will be just as delicious!
